I understand the constraints of wiping off in cold countries or places with no water - using cloth or tree bark or animal skin or grass, which has now transformed into toilet paper - but with technology if a place has abundant water availability and water heaters at home, then why still limit cleaning to wiping and not washing. read more

In India people have started to use toilet paper, not as a replacement of water, but to pat dry after using water. The added advantage is on the enviornment, less paper is used so less trees are cut. The round brown tube used in toilet paper roles is a big waste of natural resources. Sometime, they are recycled, but its not that common. read more
