During most of that time, the USA and USSR had a very deep-seated hatred and mistrust of each other and they still managed to avoid nuclear war. If we've survived this long, I think we can survive another 50 years. I think large-scale war (nuclear or conventional) is very unlikely now due to the level of economic integration. read more
