Frankly, if you are going to come all this way, you owe it to yourself to see both cities. Moscow and St. Petersburg are completely different cities in design, character, architecture and mentality. Both are world class cities (Moscow the largest in Europe and St. Petersburg the fourth largest). read more

I'll be in Moscow for 3 days & St. Petersburg for 3 days in June, and I'm planning on doing the usual tourist things- Red Square, The Kremlin, etc. But I'd like advice on things to do that aren't the typical things you see on every tourist page. Something maybe quirky or uniqe to Moscow (or St. Petersburg!). I've never been to Russia before. read more

If you travel to St Petersburg, then a visit to the Hermitage will be a must. A timed tour is much better as this will avoid queuing outside. However, you will still have to maximise the time available. read more
