It's awful that this band usually gets overlooked when people talk about the greatest bands of all time. It will be very difficult to decide the number one American rock band of all times as it is nearly impossible to compare bands like Pearl Jam, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Green Day, Guns 'n Roses, The Ramones, The Doors, Aerosmith, Kiss, Nirvana, The Eagles, Boston, Van Halen and ofcourse, The Grateful Dead. All of them being the best American rock bands of all time, IMO.
