A devilish twist on Jim Beam's regular bourbon, blending their 6 year old whiskey with spirit extracted from the wood of the cask itself, where it's soaked in over the years of maturation. This gives us a robust and hefty bourbon with a nice added chunk of woody richness.

Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve was first released in 2010 and promised to be a more intense version of Beam’s popular Straight Bourbon. There is no special grain bill or aging (it’s on wood for 9 years), so it’s as close as you can get to the purity of that product.

It can’t be “Kentucky Straight Bourbon” unless it’s distilled and aged in Kentucky for at least 2 years. And it can’t say Jim Beam® unless it’s been made by seven generations of one family.

Knob Creek is a brand of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey produced by Beam Suntory at the Jim Beam distillery in Clermont, Kentucky. It is one of the four Jim Beam small batch bourbon brands targeted for the high-end liquor market. Its siblings in the line are Booker's, Baker's, and Basil Hayden's.

The Old Crow brand has a venerable history as one of Kentucky's earliest bourbons. Old Crow is aged in barrels for a minimum of three years, and in the United States is 80 proof while the slightly higher quality, but still inexpensive Old Crow Reserve is aged for a minimum of four years and is 86 proof.

I've avoided Noah's Mill NAS but couldn't let this one pass me by, you don't see many 15 yr bourbons these days under $40. Given the time frame - 2005 - my hope is that the juice was deemed surplus given the then relatively low demand for older bourbons.

Very rough.

Also don’t let the Weller’s line of underwhelming bottle design and labels deter you from finding the gem. The money Buffalo Trace saves on the bottle itself is passed along to the consumer. As their shortages continue, if you see a bottle of W.L. Weller 12 Year, grab it.

At the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, this Four Roses 2013 Limited Edition Single Barrel Bourbon was disguised as “E” on the Single Barrel 10-years and older flight. I noted its color was gorgeous and spice plentiful, giving it a strong Gold.
