For the second-straight year the Toyota HiLux ute has been named Australia's best-selling vehicle. After claiming the crown in 2016, the HiLux has retained the throne at the top of the 2017 sales charts, with a huge 47,093 examples of the ute sold – that number accounts for 4x2 and 4x4 sales across all body types (single-, extra-and dual-cab).
During 2016 Ford sold 36,934 Rangers, compared with 42,728 in 2017. On this trajectory we could see the Ranger catch the HiLux in 2018. As for the battle between the popular small cars, the Corolla has edged out in front of the Mazda3.
