Canada commanded the top spot in the last study in 2000, but even still has shown serious improvement. A decade ago, only 40% of the nation’s population had a college degree. Snagging the number two most-educated spot was Israel, which trailed Canada by 5%.
The World Economic Forum ranked the most educated countries in the world recently under its Global Competitiveness Report. A scoring index (1-7) was created based on factors including the rate at which people studied at a university or an equivalent, such as nursing school.
To identify the most educated countries in the world, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the 10 countries with the highest proportions of residents aged 25 to 64 with a tertiary education in 2012. These data were included as part of the OECD's 2014 Education at a Glance report.
