CityVille was a casual social city-building game developed by Zynga, and released in December 2010. A sequel, CityVille 2, was released in December 2012. It was closed down on February, 2013 just three months after the game's release. CityVille was shut down on April 30, 2015. Players had not been given notice when opening the game.
Mafia Wars is a multiplayer Social network game created by Zynga. In Mafia Wars the players play as gangsters building their own mafia. The players fight other players online, "rob" other players, and complete jobs, missions, and operations to gain rewards and strength in the endless game.
Given what’s happening with social becoming an infrastructure element, I believe social will be everywhere, a bit like online multiplayer, so strictly speaking SNS games will be a subset of social games similarly to PS3 online games are a subset of online multiplayer games.

Developed by Zynga, and launched on June 9, 2010, it was a freemium game, i.e. free to play, but with the option of purchasing premium content.
Friends for Sale was a massively multiplayer online business simulation game originally developed by Serious Business, available as an application on the social networking website Facebook. The game allowed players to buy and sell virtual pets representing other players.
The game was so successful, it sparked the release of a spinoff in CastleVille Legends, which will remain available to play on Facebook and mobile devices. Meanwhile, ChefVille launched on Facebook in August 2012, and was a restaurant management game with a noticeably different style than Zynga’s Cafe World (which itself closed in July 2014).
YoWorld (Formerly Yoville) is a browser-based virtual world game owned by Big Viking Games. YoWorld can only be played on Facebook, and on the Facebook Game Room App, currently. The game was initially developed by Tall Tree Games, which is now called Big Viking Games, YoWorld was acquired by Zynga in 2008.
