Airlie Red Flesh is one of the best-flavored and latest-ripening red-fleshed apples, also known as Hidden RoseĀ®. The variety was first discovered in the 1960s growing as a seedling tree on land owned by Lucky and Audrey Newell near Airlie in Oregon (between Corvallis and Independence).

One of the best early-season apples, Akane is a marriage between the American Jonathan apple and the English Worcester Pearmain. In appearance it most closely resembles the Worcester Pearmain. For an early apple variety it has an unusually good balanced flavor, reflecting the influence of the high quality Jonathan.

ALBEMARLE PIPPIN, the most famous of Virginia apples, originated in 1700 near the village of Newtown on Long Island, New York. Col. Thomas Walker of Castle Hill brought scions of the variety back to Albemarle County as he returned from service under General Washington at the battle of Brandywine in 1777.
