The budgie can be any of the basic body colors, but so long as it has the wild type markings it will be of the normal variety. So you can have Skyblue Normal, Grey Normal, Dark Green Normal.... etc. The picture to the right shows a Dark Green Normal hen and behind her a Skyblue Normal hen.
Budgie Varieties with Different Markings or Patterns on Their Wings If your bird belongs to one of the budgie varieties with different markings than a Normal, then there are a couple of types it may be.
Non-opaline budgies have a stripe along the flights but it is thinner than on an Opaline and does not reach all the way across the feathers towards the edge of the wing. This means that when the wing is folded, when perched, you may see a small bit of it but often none at all.
Budgie Varieties with Pied Markings There are three budgie varieties with pied markings. Pied markings basically means that areas of body color and/or wing markings and barring are missing, leaving a clear patch of white or yellow.
