Types of Chemistry Flasks

The Erlenmeyer flask was created by Emil Erlenmeyer in the 1860s to help scientists have a better way of mixing, pouring and storing chemicals. The flask has a flat bottom that makes it easy to place on a table or a flat surface.

Round-bottomed flasks are used when heating a solution (e.g., to reflux). The RBF placed in a stand allows heating of the solution from all sides, which is more efficient and ensures the whole thing is at the same temperature.

There are volumetric flasks, such as the le Chatalier flask which have multiple graduations. Such feature in cement or lime laboratories etc. Finally, I am not convinced that the volumetric flask is the most accurate than all other glassware.
