creamsicle An extreme Creamsicle in one of the best looking Crested Gecko morphs hands down. This mutation is best described as having a cream colored dorsal flame pattern with side coloration ranging from shades of orange, reddish orange to yellowish orange.
Names: Crested gecko (Rhacodactylus ciliatus), New Caledonian crested gecko, eyelash gecko Size: Crested geckos reach an adult length of 7 to 9 inches including their prehensile tails Life Span: Crested Geckos are expected to live 10-20 years though they are relatively new to the reptile hobby so this is a bit uncertain.
Green anoles come from subtropical Florida, South Carolina, Louisiana, etc. They prefer a warm, humid environment with plenty of leafy plants and climbing branches. Leopard geckos come from the deserts of Pakistan and surrounding areas, where they dwell in rocky scrubland areas.
Crested geckos probably lack the pigments to produce blue colors, unlike the more flashy Day Geckos (Phelsuma spp.) or the Electric Blue Gecko (Lygodactylus williamsi). So it is very unlikely to have blue, green or purple crested geckos, or any Rhacodactylus species. The closest we have are olive, which is really a combination of brown and yellow in the color spectrum, and so-called lavender, which is more of a slate grey.
The spiny-tailed iguana, another species sometimes kept, reaches on average 3 feet. Desert iguanas reach about 1 1/2 feet long, while Grand Cayman blue iguanas reach 4 1/2 feet long. Pet gecko species rarely exceed 12 inches long. Frog-eyed geckos come in at about 5 inches long, while the giant day geckos reach around 12 inches.
Bicolor crested geckos are generally patternless but with a slightly darker – sometimes lighter – color on their dorsal (top of head and back). Bi-color is usually seen in red, orange, olives and buckskins. Some bicolors have a hint of a pattern on the dorsal, but lack the cream of flame morphs (see below).
Feeding crested geckos is easy with the advent of Repashy’s Crested Gecko Diet, a commercially available fruit-flavored protein diet supplemented with vitamins and minerals. This is an excellent choice as a dietary staple for your crested gecko.
