Mastodon's drummer, lyricist and arranger Brann Dailor has worked in close collaboration with Meinl to produce the Ghost ride. Brann insists his new Ghost is not the least bit scary, instead describing the Meinl metal as a cymbal with 'just the right amount of everything'.
The new Black Alpha series has been created in honour of Joey, a long-time Paiste endorsee, and his "passion for eccentric and unique cymbal designs". These shiny black 'Hyper' cymbals are derived from Paiste's mid-range to pro-level Alpha series and modelled on the current Slipknot touring set-up and, of course, are designed specifically to be played in a metal environment.
Regarded by Meinl as a benchmark for all-round professional cymbals, the M-Series is especially significant as it is the first range of B20 cymbals manufactured entirely in the company's German factory. Some purists might point to a lack of human input in the manufacturing (though five years' R&D would clearly require a lot of decision-making).The fact is that a lot of cymbals are made largely by machines today - let your ears do the choosing.
23" A Custom 25th Anniversary Ride - Limited Edition To celebrate the 25th Anniversary, we created a Limited Edition 23” Anniversary Ride Cymbal. We have carefully crafted only 1,000 cymbals in our factory in Norwell, MA and each is numbered from 1 to 1,000 as part of a commemorative laser-etched 25th Anniversary trademark.
Not a crash, not a ride – OMNI is a revolutionary new cymbal from innovative Cymbal-maker SABIAN. Developed for the astonishing Jojo Mayer, the vision for OMNI was to create a cymbal with outstanding sonic contrast both when played on its own or with other cymbals.
Heavier cymbals have a louder volume, more cut, and better stick articulation (when using drum sticks). Thin cymbals have a fuller sound, lower pitch, and faster response. The profile of the cymbal is the vertical distance of the bow from the bottom of the bell to the cymbal edge (higher profile cymbals are more bowl shaped).
Modern splash cymbals come in a variety of flavors: traditional, rock, china, salsa, thin, bell and specialty stack cymbals. No matter your sound and style, there is a splash cymbal to match. With so many varieties available, many drummers incorporate an extended array of splash cymbals to add character to their kit.
