Types of Danios
The blue danio is a peaceful, active schooling fish, so is usually kept in groups. They prefer a well-planted environment, but still need plenty of space to school. Blue danios are often kept in water with a 6.5 – 7.0 pH, a water hardness of 8 – 12 dGH, and a temperature range of 73 – 77 °F (23–25 °C).
Danio dangila Hamilton 1822: Common Name: Moustached Danio: Scientific Name: Danio dangila: Origin: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar: Size: 85mm ( 3½ inches). S.L. Comments: Known as the moustached Danio because of its two pairs of extended barbels, one pair being particularly long.

Lake Inle: Size: Grows to no more than 20mm TL: Comments: This is a very pretty species that will do well in a small species aquaria. It is tolerant of water conditions but will show its best colours in soft water. It is not a difficult species to spawn and raise.
Danio kyathit Fang 1998: Common Name: Spotted Danio / Orange finned Danio: Scientific Name: Danio kyathit: Origin: Myanmar: Size: 50mm (2 inches). S.L. Comments: This species has at least two distinct colour morphs. In one, it has a pattern of quite large spots all over the body.

Comments: This species arrived in the UK in 2003. Another one of the many discoveries made by Mr Tin Win of Hein Aquarium Yangon and it was his company that made it available to the hobby.
Do not confuse the Glowlight with a closer relative, a cyprinid known as the "Glofish." The Glofish is a genetically manipulated color form of the Zebra Danio Danio rerio while the Glowlight Danio’s coloration is totally natural. The Glowlight Danio is a separate species from the Zebra Danio, or any of the Zebrafish varieties.

The dwarf spotted danio is a hearty little fish from Myanmar that has had a long history in the aquarium industry. The earliest written descriptions of the spotted danio are from 100 years ago.
