Types of Hysteroscopy

Most women feel they can return to normal activities, including work, the day after having a hysteroscopy. Some women return to work later the same day. However, you may wish to have a few days off to rest, particularly if you had treatment such as fibroids removal and/or a general anaesthetic was used.

A hysteroscopy is a procedure to find and treat problems in your uterus. A hysteroscopy may be done to find, and possibly treat, the cause of abnormal vaginal bleeding, problems getting pregnant, or miscarriage. It may also be done to insert or remove a device that prevents pregnancy.

Bleeding also may be moderate or severe. Patients with moderate bleeding will repeatedly pass larger quantities of bright or dark red (maroon-colored) blood often mixed with stool and/or blood clots. Patients with severe bleeding may pass several bowel movements or a single bowel movement containing a large amount of blood.
