Monkey grass has many common names including lily turf, liriope, mondo grass, and snakesbeard. There are many varieties of monkey grass, all of which belong to one of two genuses: Liriope or Ophiopogon.

Liriope Spicata
Liriope spicata also produces flowers in white or blue spikes, but the plant's voluminous foliage can sometimes hide the flowers from view. The flowers line the stiff spikes in dense rows, unlike the more rotund flowers of muscari. Spicata's blue-black fruits are similar to muscari's and ripen at about the same time.
