Types of Restraining Orders

Proof of service for the respondent must be filed with the court prior to or at the time of the Civil Harassment Restraining Order hearing. NOTE: The Restraining Order is not activated until the respondent is properly served.

Domestic Violence Restraining Orders. A domestic violence restraining order is a civil order that protects you from abuse from an intimate partner or family member.

Fees: There is no fee to file documents for elder or dependent adult abuse restraining order cases. How to fill out and file the Restraining Order forms: Effective May 14, 2018, filings for hearings set after June 4, 2018 will be accepted for filing at the Downtown Courthouse location.

In California, an employer can file for a workplace violence restraining order to protect an employee from experiencing violence or threats of violence in the workplace.
