Types of Spaceships

An Assault Carrier (also known as an Assault Landing Craft, Assault Ship, Assault Cruiser, Space Combat Vehicle (SCV), and Mobile Suit Carrier (MSC)) is a ship whose primary function is to deploy and recover Mobile Suits and/or Mobile Armors.

A generation ship, or generation starship, is a hypothetical type of interstellar ark starship that travels at sub-light speed. Since such a ship might take centuries to thousands of years to reach even nearby stars, the original occupants of a generation ship would grow old and die, leaving their descendants to continue traveling.

Unlike cruiser, destroyer and frigate, the term "littoral combat ship" is not a generally accepted designation for this class of ship, but rather an internal designation in the U.S. Navy. The designation that most closely fits the LCS is the corvette.
