Types of Stents

Bare Metal Stent (BMS)
Bare Metal Stent (BMS)

Bare-metal stent is a stent without a coating or covering (as used in covered stents drug-eluting stents). It is a mesh-like tube of thin wire. The first stents licensed for use in cardiac arteries were bare metal – often 316L stainless steel. More recent ('2nd generation') stents use cobalt chromium alloy.

Bio-Engineered Stent

Bio-engineered Stents Genous CoCr The Genous bio-engineered Cobalt Chromium (CoCr) stent combines thin stent struts, dual helix design and EPC capture technology to protect against thrombus and minimize restenosis by accelerating the natural healing process

Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS)
Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS)

The Absorb GT1 Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS) is a temporary scaffold that will fully resorb over time and is indicated for improving coronary luminal diameter in patients with ischemic heart disease due to de novo native coronary artery lesions (length ≤ 24 mm) with a reference vessel diameter of ≥ 2.5 mm and ≤ 3.75 mm.

Drug Eluting Stent (DES)
Drug Eluting Stent (DES)

A drug-eluting stent (DES) is a peripheral or coronary stent (a scaffold) placed into narrowed, diseased peripheral or coronary arteries that slowly releases a drug to block cell proliferation. This prevents fibrosis that, together with clots , could otherwise block the stented artery, a process called restenosis.

Dual Therapy Stent (DTS)

The COMBO Dual Therapy Stent (DTS) offers a unique approach to natural vessel healing. The EPC Capturing Technology is featured on the DTS, which is designed to repair vessel injury and regenerate endothelium 1.
