How many strings does a guitar generally have?

Most guitars are standard 6 string tuned EADGBE. Most bass are standard 4, tuned EADG, but an octave lower than normal guitars. There are 8 string guitars but those are less common. I do not know how they are tuned. I would assume EADGBEAD. read more
