Logistics, among other reasons. Just for comparison, Guam is nearly 5 times smaller than Rhode Island, currently the smallest US state. Additionally, the population of the entire island is smaller than Akron, Ohio. It also isn’t clear that the popular sentiment of the islanders would favor admission into the union. read more
