The Comanche were among the first Native American tribes to get horses, which were brought here by the Spanish. I don't believe there's a particular bloodline of Comanche bred horses, but probably the closest you're going to get is a Foundation bred American Quarter Horse, particularly one that has a concentration of Steel Dust in its pedigree. read more
This is the first time that I've heard a source say Comanches were not known to selectively breed horses. I am not sure where this is coming from. The tribe was known as one of the greatest horse-culture people of the southern plains and extant records show that their breeding skills were noteworthy. read more
