A stratus cloud is simply a cloud that results from a thermal inversion. It is rather flat and doesn’t have a special color. It's mainly appear as nearly white in colour , if the cloud is layered, just like stratus cloud in lower level clouds but dark in colour it'll be nimbostratus cloud (rainy layered clouds ). read more
