Some of the main factors that led to the rebellion were the restriction of the American colonists' civil liberties and the political and religious ideals that Britain forced on the colonies, along with the parliamentary taxation and the vicious British military measures. read more

As far as the causes of the American Revolution, I would add only one thing to Ganeshmoorthy's observation concerning the "curtailment" of the colonies' right to administer and distribute their own taxes, which were ever more increasingly being siphoned off to England. read more
