It's the only book I have ever read where it was so disgusting in places that I considered stopping, wondering why I'm even reading such things. I've read plenty of disturbing books, both fact and fiction; books about wars, true crime, horror novels galore — including a lot of the other books mentioned in this topic — but nothing as actually disgusting as American Psycho. read more
The other most disturbing/depressing book I've ever read is Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy. Again, a wonderful book, but painfully depressing for me. read more
