First, a definition. The European Dark Ages go from about 600 AD to 950 AD, more or less. I use the expression Dark Ages not as it is used by people who haven't studied history, as a time of peculiar horror and misery, but because they are "dark" in the sense that there is a distinct shortage of written documents. read more
I assume you mean the West European Dark Age. Most civilisations have them from time to time and they do not often coincide. In Oceania, the Polynesians were part-way through their migration. read more
