One of the iconic parks of Kenya's Great Rift Valley, Lake Nakuru is reliable for sightings of the park's black and white rhinos with a combined population of around 60. This is one of Kenya's smaller parks and the rhinos (especially whites) are often seen around the shore of the lake that gives the park its name. read more
Although white rhinos are bigger and heavier than black rhinos (and can have longer horns, as seen in the photo of the female white rhino in the slideshow above), colonial trophy hunters lumped the black rhino, along with the elephant, lion, leopard, and buffalo, as one of the Big Five because it is the more dangerous rhino species to hunt—it's faster and more aggressive. read more
