If Apple includes support of external SD cards, this will greatly affect their business model negatively in the sense that all users will buy the cheapest iPhone and slap on a huge SD card. Apple charges $649 pretax for the base 16GB model iPhone costs 649$ pretax, and $749 for the 64GB model. read more

If you think about it, the iPod doesn't have a memory card slot. You can't even change your own battery. Apple would rather have you send it in to have the battery changed, or better yet, replace the entire unit. That's exactly what they're doing with the iPhone. There are people that like it, and it's fine with me. read more
