In most places in the world full auto guns are completely banned from civilian possession. In the US they are not banned, but they are extremely expensive and rare. They are also prohibited by hunting regulations in most, if not every state. read more

More in depth, most civilian hunters do not have licences to own automatic weapons, though many hunters do use semi-auto variants of the AK-47 or AR-15 (which stands for Arma-Lite-15, not assault rifle) an Uzi cannot kill anything beyond varmints or maybe birds, and it is wildly inaccurate at range. read more

Now this is kinda a grey area. Some states won't, not due to it being automatic but the caliber most automatic weapons fire would be underpowered. A good example is .223 is not legal to use in some states for hunting larger game. And in all cases you would have to use semi-auto fire. read more

It's not a matter of which is better. They are both very good for the job they were designed to do. It's kinda like golf clubs, 9MM Uzi would be a 9 iron, 7.62x39 mm AK 47 a 4 iron, 7.62 M-14 a 2 iron. read more
