León, along with Castilla, is an"autonomous community" per the Spanish constitution. If you mean León being a separate community, while there is a good geographical reason (as it is, the combined community is the largest in Spain), there is not much of a reason otherwise. read more
An outsider won't see it, but Spain is molded from Castille and Aragon in equal parts. Is like Oxfort seceding from the UK, or New York from USA. Even so, there is a Aragonese separatist movement, albeit small. But this is spain. There is even a Madrid Separatist Party, as preposterous as it sounds.
