NASCAR wants to keep them below 200mph so they wont go airborne and fly into the stands. if it was up to the teams i am sure they would want to go as fast as it takes to win. yet i suppose 200 mph is the benchmark. these cars are not designed to go 0-60 mph. the pace car is 55-60 mph, so therefore on restarts it is important from there to top speed. read more
