i think the opposite, I like to go for a long drive and then let it sit over night before changing the oil. Anyone who has had to remove an oil pan before and watched how long oil drips for, knows that oil takes a long time to drip its way down to the pan. read more
If you are going to change the oil, the filter may be easier to get off if it's cold, but on the other hand, oil is thinner when hot, and will drain much better than if it was cold. Most people top up and even change the oil when it's hot. read more
My usual routine is warm up to operating temp, spirited drive/ride, come home, shut engine off, change into 'oil changing clothes' and get water etc ready (takes about 10 min) I then start it to put it on the ramps, so the engine runs for 2-3 minutes (in my mind it mixes the oil back up without getting too hot) then drain. read more
