In 1931, his father, Andrew, began a lifelong career managing agricultural properties for the Pelissa family, which owns Napa Wine Company in Oakville and has Napa Valley holdings of 1,000 acres. Of that, 635 acres — 35 percent in the Oakville appellation and 65 percent in Yountville — are certified-organic vineyards.
