The pool will only overflow by the amount of rain in excess of the amount of rain needed to fill the pool to the top. So if your pool is the normal 3” below the top, the rain would need to exceed 3” before any additional rain would be available to overflow onto the deck. read more
Fill it with water and then attach a vac head or use something heavy in order to hold the hose on the first step of the pool or your swim out. Cap the other end of your vacuum hose with your palm and pull the hose away quickly from the pool and a couple of feet below the level of the pool water.
