Chernobyl had some but little effect on the future of Nuclear energy. As the video said, the 80s had seen a winding down of nuclear energy due to its dangers, cost to store spent fuel, and danger of proliferation of several weapons grade waste products. People would still be living in Pripyat and we’d know a little less about how to avoid nuclear accidents (having one fewer mistake to learn from). We’d also have fewer movies and popular culture references about the incident. read more
