The internet is buzzing about a game, app, or challenge called Blue Whale. This app apparently encourages children over 50 days to do self-harm (like cutting) and then the game concludes with suicide. read more

The terrifying Blue Whale challenge has claimed more than 130 lives in Russia, where it all started; The app throws 50 challenges to users, which include self-mutilation, watching scary videos. The last of the challenges is to kill yourself; The game is not freely available for download. read more

In April, Essex Police in the UK warned a school about the app; in turn, Woodlands School in Basildon sent a letter to parents about Blue Whale. Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire police have also reportedly urged parents to keep an eye on what their kids are doing on social media. read more
