Birds can fly almost anywhere, if you give them a breathable atmosphere. Birds had flown on the Space Shuttle already, without problems to adapt to microgravity. As the gravity of the moon is between Earth and microgravity, birds should also adapt to this gravity and fly, as long as they can also breathe. read more

Or grow artificial meat in a lab or something. In the case of terraforming though we might need birds for the ecosystem, in some way. Like someone else said, just bring the eggs along. Although we might not know what the exessive G forces from launch/re-entry would do to the development of the bird inside, or the low gravity upon travelling. read more
