An average cup of tea has about 40mg of caffeine, this is because by weight tea has more caffeine than coffee, but you use less tea to make a cup. It can have, but it might not. The caffeine content of coffee varies wildly and can be much higher than the amount you can get in tea. read more

Tea leaves have more caffeine than coffee beans before they are brewed. Prepared, however, tea is diluted quite a bit more than most coffees.
