How do you separate coconut milk?

Best Answers

Put the can in the fridge overnight or for a few hours. After it's sufficiently cold the cream will be on top and the water on the bottom. Just make sure not to shake the can when you remove it from the fridge! (In a pinch pop it in the freezer but not for too long or else the can will warp due to the water expansion.)Jul 17, 2012 read more

You can use the heavy cream (the harder top of an unshaken can of coconut milk) to start with, let it bubble so that the oil starts to separate. You can then add your paste and continue to fry it for a couple of minutes and then add the rest of the milk. read more
