I'm going to assume that the cheese has been refrigerated and doesn't taste particularly off. If it hasn't been refrigerated and tastes fishy or rancid, throw that sucker out. It may or may not make you sick but it's generally a bad plan to eat things that taste terrible. read more

That's actually a good sign; it means the cheese doesn't contain preservatives. Cut the mold away and eat the rest.
